Homogenization of MHD flows in porous media

چکیده

The paper is concerned with the homogenization of a nonlinear differential system describing flow an electrically conducting, incompressible and viscous Newtonian fluid through periodic porous medium, in presence magnetic field. We introduce variational formulation equipped boundary conditions. show existence solution problem, derive uniform estimates solutions depending on characteristic parameters flow. Using two-scale convergence method, we rigorously equation for current density, two-pressure Stokes system. derive, case constant permeability, explicit relation expressing macroscopic velocity as function Lorentz force, pressure gradient, external body via two permeability filtration tensors. When field absent, this reduces to Darcy law.

Lecture 2 Homogenization in Porous Media

The goal of this lecture is to show that homogenization is a very efficient tool in the modeling of complex phenomena in heterogeneous media. In the first lecture we considered a model problem of diffusion for which the homogenized operator was of the same type (still a diffusion equation). In this context, homogenization is really a matter of defining and computing effective diffusion tensors....

Multigrid Homogenization of Heterogeneous Porous Media

This is the final report of a three-year, Laboratory-Directed Research and Development (LDRD) project at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL); this report, however, reports on only two years’ research, since this project was terminated at the end of two years in response to the reduction in funding for the LDRD Program at LANL. The numerical simulation of flow through heterogeneous porous ...

Homogenization of strongly heterogeneous porous media

Resumé Homogenization techniques were developed to simplify description and modeling of heterogeneous structures where the characteristic size of the heterogeneities is much smaller than the size of the whole structure. Usually the simplification is associated with tractabil-ity of numerical modeling: " original structures " , like fiber composites, or masonry are constructed by repeating some ...

Comparison of Binomial and Power Equations in Radial Non-Darcy Flows in Coarse Porous Media

Analysis of non-laminar flows in coarse alluvial beds has a wide range of applications in various civil engineering, oil and gas, and geology problems. Darcy equation is not valid to analyze transient and turbulent flows, so non-linear equations should be applied. Non-linear equations are classified into power and binomial equations. Binomial equation is more accurate in a wide range of velocit...

Homogenization of two fluid flow in porous media

The macroscopic behaviour of air and water in porous media is often approximated using Richards' equation for the fluid saturation and pressure. This equation is parametrized by the hydraulic conductivity and water release curve. In this paper, we use homogenization to derive a general model for saturation and pressure in porous media based on an underlying periodic porous structure. Under an a...
